Jericho Campground and Picnic Area
One of 4 campgrounds within the Little Sahara Recreation Area (LSRA), the Jericho Campground and Picnic Area has 16 sites for camping and/or picnicking.
On busy weekends in the spring, LSRA may receive up to 30,000 visitors, large camping groups, and heavy use of public facilities.
Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)
The Jericho Campground and Picnic Area has 16 sites for camping and/or picnicking, 2 of which are accessible. Although there is no designated accessible parking in the campground, the entire area is a flat, hard-packed surface. To access the campsites, visitors can park anywhere on the loop.
The campground has 2 accessible gender-specific flush restrooms, each with 2 stalls. There is also 1 unisex vault toilet designated as accessible, though the front lip of the concrete pad that this toilet sits on is higher than the paved surface of the parking area. This may present challenges for visitors with mobility impairments.
Potable water is available from spigots near the flush restrooms that are at a height appropriate for mobility device users. All spigots are several feet off the concrete walkways in gravel or sandy ground, which might limit access by some visitors using mobility devices.
The 2 accessible campsites can be reached from the parking area via concrete walkways. Use caution, because there may be a gap or uneven terrain between the parking lot pavement and the start of the walkway. Picnic tables in these sites are on concrete pads. They are open at both ends to accommodate wheelchair users. These sites have accessible grills and fire pits.
The campground also has a protected sand play area, where visitors can access the desert sand while keeping their distance from off-highway vehicles in use elsewhere in the recreation area.
