Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail Reopens following Border 3 Fire

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - The section of the Pacific Crest Trail on Bureau of Land Management lands closed during the Border 3 Fire in eastern San Diego County has been reopened to the public.
The closure notice has been lifted for the section of the Pacific Crest Trail between mile marker 0.0 and mile marker 14.0 near Harts Ranch Road/Big Protrero Truck Trail. Public access can resume.
The fire broke out north of Tecate at the U.S.-Mexico border June 17 amid record-setting temperatures across San Diego County. The fire is now 7,609 acres and 95% contained burning in San Diego County between Hwy 94 and Hwy 188, two miles west of Potrero. There have been five homes and 11 outbuildings destroyed.
