The Bureau of Land Management Conveys 80-acre parcel to the City of Hyde Park

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today finalized the conveyance of an 80-acre parcel to the City of Hyde Park in Cache County, Utah. The BLM’s issuance of the patent to the city is the final step in fulfilling John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act, which President Donald J. Trump signed into law on March 12, 2019.
“We are pleased to see this conveyance completed for the community of Hyde Park. The Administration has prioritized restoring trust with our neighbors and this partnership is an example of what we can accomplish together,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management Casey Hammond.
The lands being conveyed are adjacent to the Hyde Park city limits and isolated from other BLM-managed lands. The parcel is well-suited geographically to support Hyde Park’s interest to increase recreational opportunities and to provide for important public purposes.
“This 80-acre conveyance to Hyde Park may be small in terms of size, but it is big in terms of importance to the local community,” shared Congressman Rob Bishop (R-UT-1). “This transfer will increase water storage capacity and enhance recreational opportunities, the right way through the right hands. I thank Secretary Bernhardt and the BLM for getting this done in a timely fashion.”
The Federal Register Notice for the Notice of Realty Action was published on May 21, 2020. The conveyance includes surface and mineral interests.
“Among the Utah wins secured in the public lands package was legislation directing the BLM to transfer 80 acres from federal control to Hyde Park in order to improve the city’s water supply and provide additional recreational opportunities for Cache County residents,” Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) said. “With the issuance of this patent, the land conveyance process has been completed. I thank Secretary Bernhardt for seeing it through in a professional and timely manner.”
“This conveyance will help support Hyde Park City’s recreation and other public purpose needs and will benefit the local community by providing access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and opportunities for public utilities,” said BLM’s Acting Salt Lake Field Manager Allison Ginn.
Secretary’s Order 3374 established a task force to prioritize the implementation of the Dingell Act. This order requires the Department of the Interior to take actionable steps and create implementation plans in order to meet the timelines laid out by President Trump.
