ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management, Ely District, Bristlecone Field Office is asking the public to review and provide comments on a preliminary environmental assessment (EA) that analyzes the designation of a signed trail system in White Pine County, consisting of existing roads and trails open to all uses. The 60-day public comment period concludes Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

The White Pine County Silver State Trail Preliminary EA analyzes three potential routes. Alternative A provides for the highest level of public safety while minimizing resource concerns. Alternative A designates 197 miles of existing routes starting just north of the Lincoln County line and ending at the Elko County line. It provides for a connection with the City of Ely and offers extended recreational opportunities. The BLM is preparing the EA at the request of the White Pine County Commission.

The preliminary EA is available online at https://go.usa.gov/xPvNT.

Address all written comments to the BLM Ely District Office, 702 North Industrial Way, Ely, NV 89301, Attn: Project Manager John Miller. Submit comments electronically at blm_nv_bfo_silverstatetrail_2018ea@blm.gov.
