YUMA, Ariz. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comments as it considers a mining plan of operation from Bonanza Explorations Inc., for the Copperstone Gold Mine Project. The proposed action would affect approximately 120 acres of public lands in La Paz County, Ariz.

Public involvement is a vital component to the BLM’s mission to strike a regulatory balance while developing sustainable energy and natural resource projects. Bonanza plans to operate the existing underground mine, expand the mill and tailings dam in order to recover gold over a period of 4 to 10 years.

The BLM is soliciting public comments on the proposal prior to analysis of the proposed action in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to identify significant environmental issues. The BLM will accept public comments in writing until November 30, 2018. At the end of that comment period, the environmental analysis process will begin.

The Mine Plan of Operation is available for review at https://go.usa.gov/xPUeX. Please use the following address to review the plan in person or submit your comments: BLM Yuma Field Office, 7341 E. 30th Street, Yuma, Arizona 85365.

If you are not able to review the plan in person or online, please contact the Yuma Field Office at 928-317-3200 and one will be mailed to you.
