BLM, Partners will host Day of Hiking and Canoeing at Cosumnes River Preserve, Sunday, May 22

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in partnership with Latino Outdoors, –San Joaquin/Central Valley Region and Sacramento Region, Northern California Consortium – Generation Green at Grant High School will be hosting a day of outdoor activities at the Cosumnes River Preserve. This event is an invitation to experience the outdoors and share cultural connections with each other. Everyone is welcome with an emphasis on Latino youth and families.

 

The event is limited to 60 participants. Participants will be divided into two groups and rotate between a 3-mile hike and canoeing the Cosumnes River with lunch being served at 11:30am. Pre-registration is required to receive the free lunch. "Join the fun and come prepared to explore and learn" said Harry McQuillen, Cosumnes River Preserve Manager.

 

Participants should come prepared wearing comfortable shoes and clothing for hiking and canoeing. Other items to remember to bring are a water bottle, plate, cup, utensils and a backpack to carry gear.

 

The schedule is as follows:

8:30am- 9:00am          Meet at the Cosumnes River Preserve Farm Center

9:00am-9:30am           Welcome Introduction and day schedule- Latino Outdoors

9:30am-11:30am         Group #1 Hike Group #2 Canoeing

11:30am-12:30pm       Lunch by the visitor center

12:30pm-2:30pm         Group #1 Canoeing Group #2 Hike

2:30pm-3:00pm           Depart
