BLM Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area To Develop New Proposed Action for Equestrian Facility

The United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management-Eastern States, Lower Potomac Field Station has terminated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process associated with a Proposed Action to replace the 34-year-old, 46-stall barn/arena building in the administrative compound at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area.
In the next few weeks BLM will begin a process to involve the general public and elected officials to develop a new Proposed Action that will provide better public access to the equestrian facilities on the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area, determine whether to rehabilitate or replace the current facility, improve opportunities for the general public to participate in various equestrian activities, and address environmental and watershed issues.
After a new Proposed Action and other alternatives are developed with public participation, BLM will continue with the National Environmental Policy Act process to analyze the Proposed Action and alternatives through an Environmental Assessment.
