GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction Field Office and its partners invite the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly constructed Third Flats Trailhead to celebrate four new trails in the Bangs Canyon Recreation Area. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 6.

“These trails are the result of outstanding collaboration with the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association, Epic Rides, Grand Mesa Jeep Club, Motorcycle Trail Riders Association, Bookcliff Rattlers and Mesa County,” said Katie Stevens, BLM Grand Junction Field Manager. “Their contributions towards planning and constructing the trails were invaluable.”

The trails, totaling about five miles, accommodate a variety of motorized and non-motorized uses, including hiking, mountain biking, motorcycles and jeeps. A new kiosk at the trailhead provides visitors with information about recreational activities in the area.

“It’s extraordinarily gratifying to work with the community of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction BLM Field Office staff,“ said Todd Sadow, Epic Rides President.

In Fiscal Year 2016, recreation on BLM Colorado-managed public lands generated $591 million and supported 4,800 jobs.

Following the ceremony, participants are encouraged to explore the new trails. For more information about the ceremony or the trails, call the BLM Grand Junction Field Office at 970-244-3000.
