BLM Fulfills NANA Village Land Entitlements

ANCHORAGE— Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) entitlement for Noatak. Noatak is one of ten villages that merged with NANA. With this patent, all ten have received the lands they are entitled to under ANSCA.
Noatak is located on the west bank of the 396-mile long Noatak River, a few miles west of the 66-million-acre Noatak National Preserve. Noatak is 55 air miles north of Kotzebue and 70 miles north of the Arctic Circle and within the NANA Region.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
