As part of its ongoing mission to engage the public on issues in a quicker and popular way, the Bureau of Land Management Eastern States (BLM ES) has launched two new social media outlets on both Facebook and Twitter."We are excited about using social media to connect with people interested in the management of public lands in Eastern States," said BLM ES Acting Director Dean Gettinger. "Eastern States will not only be able to reach more citizens in real time, but also generate instant feedback on the myriad issues facing our agency." BLM Eastern States Facebook and Twitter sites will kick off National Volunteer Week with a series of posts spotlighting ES volunteers and public lands in the spring. The BLMES social media launch will also coincide with the celebration of Earth Day. On April 22, 2015 BLM ES will present live social media coverage of Earth Day events at Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area and Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area.
