WORLAND, Wyo. –Today the Bureau of Land Management Worland Field Office released the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Alkali Creek Reservoir Project near Hyattville, Wyoming. The proposed project, from the Wyoming Water Development Office, supports the BLM’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and is consistent with Wyoming’s 2015 Water Strategy.

The proposed reservoir is intended to provide late season irrigation to relieve shortages in the Paint Rock Creek Watershed and Nowood River area. The proposed reservoir is approximately 294 acres in size and would have a normal capacity of approximately 7,994 acre-feet, or 2.6 billion gallons of water.

The BLM manages public lands for the benefit of current and future generations, and agriculture and recreation are traditional uses that continue to serve local communities throughout the West.
