2012 Managed Hunt - Meadowood Special Recreation Area

The 2012 Meadowood Managed Hunt located on Mason Neck, Virginia, will be having a lottery draw hunt January 19, 20 and 21, 2012. Names entered into the drawing will include those taken from the Mason Neck Refuge orientation and those from postcards (download here) or e-mails: jreffit@blm.gov (put HUNT in the subject line) marked no later than December 19, 2011.Only one lottery ballot will be accepted per hunter. Hunters must circle gun, bow or either on the ballot. This antlerless only hunt is restricted to archery, shotgun or muzzleloader. Each hunter drawn will be contacted by phone and required to stop by the Lower Potomac Field Station office, 10406 Gunston Road, Lorton Virginia, between 7AM and 4PM, December 21 or 22, to pick up a map unless other arrangements are madeEach hunter will be required to adhere to Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries rules and regulations. They will be required to show proof of certification of qualification and bring their Virginia hunting license and big game tags when picking up their map and checking in at the deer check station on January 19.Any hunter needing accessibility accommodations or a hunter's aide must make arrangements with the Lower Potomac staff in advance. All other hunters must hunt from a personal tree or ladder stand located off the ground by at least 10 feet.NOTE: *If you have been ejected or prohibited from participating in ANY publicly managed hunt in Northern Virginia, you may be disqualified from participation in these hunts. The purpose of the hunt is to maintain the deer population at a level compatible with the habitat while minimizing disturbance to wildlife and other visitors. DATES TO REMEMBER: Please check these dates carefully: January 19, 20 and 21.
