Subject: Recreation Sites Spatial Data Standard
This Information Bulletin (IB) announces the availability of a newly revised Oregon/Washington (OR/WA) spatial data standard for Recreation Sites. The data standard defines how this type of data is to be captured in a Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabase, defines attributes used, and defines coding schemes (domains). This data standard is to be followed for all Recreation Sites geospatial data. This theme represents the managed recreation site. The infrastructure features within the site are found on the Structures dataset (described by a different data standard) and the management planning areas that may contain one or more recreation sites are found on the Recreation Management Area dataset (described by a forthcoming data standard). To see the full Recreation Sites data standard, go to: blm.gov/or/datamanagement/files/Recreation_Sites_Spatial_Data_Standard.pdf
This IB supersedes Instruction Memorandum IM-OR-2008-028. The changes are minor corrections to the text and attribute additions (requested from field offices) that were approved by the State Data Administrator and State Data Steward. This renewal is interim to a major revision to the Recreation Sites data standard which will be undertaken in the upcoming year.
Any questions or comments about this standard can be directed to Christopher Dent, State Data Steward for Recreation, at 503-808-6215 or 541-618-2477, Gavin Hoban, GIS Technical Lead, at 541-416-6879 or Pamela Keller, acting OR/WA State Data Administrator, at 503-808-6009.
Districts with Unions are reminded to notify their unions of this IB and satisfy any bargaining obligations before implementation. Your servicing Human Resources Office or Labor Relations Specialist can provide you with assistance in this matter.
