Changing conditions are causing more intense wildfires than the same landscapes saw a century or two ago. And the Bureau of Land Management is on it.

BLM works with many partners to reduce risks associated with potential wildfires and improve the environment while they do so. California's Consumnes Watershed is a great example. In this video, you'll see how addressing fire risk is also reducing the amount of sediment that ends up in the river and restoring the landscape.

The funding for this project came from the Inflation Reduction Act.  You can find more information about the Cosumnes Watershed Restoration Landscape on the Restoration Landscapes storymap
