VIDEO: A transformative journey for Arizona’s Sky Islands

BLM and partners are breathing new life into the special ecosystems located on the Gila District in southern Arizona.  

The peaks of the Sky Islands rise more than 6,000 above the desert floor, and BLM manages lands that provide a vital connection for migrating wildlife. The area is under threat from drought and catastrophic wildfires, and the Gila District is actively working on hazardous fuels projects to improve habitat and reduce wildfire impacts.
