CASPER, Wyo. – Step back in time this weekend, Aug. 24 and 25, at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center with a fun-filled pioneer living history event.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, local re-enactment group, The Platte Bridge Company, will be at the Trails Center to showcase life on the frontier. Both days, the Company will be on-hand with Dutch-oven cooking and special presentations, including quill and ink penmanship, pioneer toys and games, and pioneer dances. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair, join the events, and celebrate the past.

Also on Saturday, the Trails Center will host its last Pioneer Trail Trek of the summer, exploring the pioneer trails in western Nebraska to the iron bridge at Fort Laramie. Join us as we travel to Henry, Neb., where the journey begins. Stops will include pioneer related sites, including several pioneer graves. The trek concludes near the Fort Laramie area.

The Trail Trek will depart from the Trails Center parking lot at 8 a.m. Transportation is not provided and carpooling is encouraged. Four-wheel, high clearance vehicles are recommended. Please bring a lunch, drinks, and wear appropriate clothing.

Registration is required to participate on the trek. To register, please contact Jason Vlcan at 307-261-7783.
