Sept. 28: National Public Lands Day - El Malpais National Conservation Area
Event Description
As part of the annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the Bureau of Land Management Rio Puerco Field office seeks 35 volunteers to help us install two new benches at the La Ventana Arch, part of the El Malpais National Conservation Area (NCA) near Grants, New Mexico.
As part of this project, we will also work with dedicated volunteers to install carsonite signs helping to let visitors know about the importance of staying on established trails in sensitive natural areas that abound in the El Malpais NCA. We will also work with our volunteers to clear weeds and grass around the parking lot.
If this sounds like a way that you can help us celebrate NPLD, please contact the El Malpais NCA Ranger Station staff for more information. We will offer snacks, water and Gatorade to our dedicated volunteers.
For more information contact Park Ranger Rena Bob at 505-287-6606 or rbob@blm.gov.
