North Bend, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management’s scheduled repairs to the damaged docks at the North Spit Boat Ramp will begin today, August 26, 2024.

Portions of the recreation site will be closed while the contractor completes the repair work over the next six to eight weeks. Once completed, the contractor will place the docks in the water, where they will remain until the end of the season.

Bureau of Land Management engineers discovered broken structural beams on several docks segments after removing them from the water in late 2023. The docks are unsafe for boaters and other recreationalists to use until they are repaired.

“While we don’t have an exact date for when the docks will be back in the water, we do know how much people want to access the bay and we are working diligently to make it happen,” said John Harper, Outdoor Recreation Planner.
