New connectivity trail to improve public access, walkability between Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse ONA, Village of Tequesta

Jupiter, FL -- The BLM and Village of Tequesta is scheduled to open a connectivity trail following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 17 at 5:30 pm. The newly constructed Sand Pine Spur Trail will connect the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area’s (ONA) Lupine Loop Trail to a sidewalk on US-1, which will greatly improve public safety and walkability. 

The trail was constructed by Eagle Scout Thomas Gerring and will enhance outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. 

“The BLM thanks our partners in South Florida for their work on this project,” said BLM Southeastern States District Manager Bob Swithers. “This initiative will improve public access to the ONA and enhance pedestrian safety.” 

BLM staff will host a guided walking tour of the new connectivity trail following the ribbon cutting, led by Village of Tequesta Mayor Molly Young.
