Missoula BLM Launches Online Permits for Firewood and Christmas Trees
Permits are required to cut and remove forest products from BLM land. The online option allows customers to purchase permits conveniently at no additional fee. To access the online permit system, visit BLM Online Permits. Users can print a copy of their permit or download it onto their mobile devices for easy access.
Please note that the new online system only applies to permits for firewood and Christmas trees harvested on lands administered by the Missoula Field Office. All other special forest products will still require an in-person purchase. If you prefer, you can still visit the Missoula Field Office to buy your permit in person.
When obtaining a firewood permit, it comes with load tickets; however, using these tickets is not mandatory. Stipulations are attached to the permits, so it is important to read them carefully. A map is also included to indicate areas that are restricted from firewood and Christmas tree harvesting.
