BURLEY, Idaho– The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Burley Field Office recently welcomed John Elliott as the new Field Manager.

“I am so pleased to welcome John to the Burley Field Office,” said BLM Twin Falls District Manager Mike Courtney. “He has a broad range of experience in public land management, and his familiarity with rangeland management and energy issues will lead the Burley Field Office well into the future.”

John hails from the Equality State of Wyoming, where he earned his degree in rangeland management from the University of Wyoming. He graduated from the BLM’s Leadership Academy in 2020 and added line officer training to his list of credentials soon after. He has served as BLM Lander, Worland and Rawlins field managers as well as a supervisory rangeland management specialist and assistant field manager in Wyoming.

John enjoys spending time outdoors with his family whether it is camping, fishing, hunting, biking or motorcycle riding.

“I am excited to be in Idaho working in Burley – to experience the challenges of public land management in another state,” said BLM Burley Field Manager John Elliott. “I am a strong believer in public land use and conservation – and that both can be accomplished through cooperative efforts.”

The Burley Field Office manages over 800,000 public land acres in south central Idaho.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
