BLM land sale generates $477,500 for projects
ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management Ely District conducted a competitive online sale on September 12, 2024, offering seven parcels of public land totaling 571.5 acres in Lincoln and White Pine counties. Five parcels totaling 481.5 acres sold generating $477,500.
The Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation and Development Act of 2004 and White Pine County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2006 allow the BLM to sell public lands identified for disposal by the 2008 Ely Resource Management Plan. In accordance with the Acts, 85 percent of the funds generated by the sales will provide for natural resource protection, recreation and wilderness planning, archaeological resources, and other opportunities in the respective counties. Additionally, 5 percent of the revenue will go to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent will go to the respective counties.
The sale offered four parcels in Lincoln County and three parcels in White Pine County that ranged from 10 to 240 acres in size. One parcel in Lincoln County and one parcel in White Pine County did not receive bids. The parcels were nominated by local governments.

Successful bidders were required to pay 20 percent of the bid by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with the remainder due within 180 days on or before March 11, 2025. In accordance with the joint selection process, unsold parcels must be re-nominated for consideration by the local governments.
