Due to elevated water levels at Rim Lake, Rim Lake Road off state highway 71 has been closed until further notice. For public safety, motorized travel is not authorized through this area.
The Bureau of Land Management has lifted fire restrictions for BLM-administered public lands in Crook, Niobrara, and Weston counties. The BLM joins county partners in rescinding restrictions following recent and expected precipitation that has reduced fire danger in northeastern Wyoming.
The summer series kicks off on Saturday, May 25, exploring the historic trails just west of Independence Rock. This trek will follow the pioneer trails along the Sweetwater River near Martin’s Cove and end near the famous landmark, Split Rock.
BLM fire crews will conduct prescribed fire operations west of La Barge, Wyoming between mid-May and July as part of a multi-year project. Fire operations will begin only when conditions are favorable for a safe and effective burn on public lands managed by the Pinedale Field Office.
Bureau of Land Management Wyoming will hold three wild horse and burro adoptions this May. Animals will be offered to qualified adopters both online and at in-person competitive bid adoptions for a $125 minimum fee.
