WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – The Black Rock Field Office and partner organizations Friends of Black Rock-High Rock, Friends of Nevada Wilderness, and Stewards of the Black Rock Desert are hosting the 20th Anniversary of Black Rock Rendezvous in the Black Rock Desert May 24-27, 2024.

This family-friendly Leave No Trace campout includes guest speakers, public lands stewardship projects, and guided recreational, natural and cultural tours. Saturday night features a potluck and Dutch oven cook-off. Sunday night features a community potluck and campfire trivia!

The guided tours and stewardship projects are scheduled over the weekend at several locations near and around the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. Projects include installing fences, vegetation restoration, and monitoring.

Basecamp will be set up on the playa, just north of the 12-Mile Playa Access, near Cassidy Mine Road. Participants are encouraged to bring enough supplies to be self-sufficient for the weekend, including one gallon of water per day. Though this event is expected to be set up on the playa, an alternate location may be used if weather becomes a factor.

For event information, registration, and developments, please visit Friends of Black Rock High Rock’s web page at blackrockdesert.org, or Friends of Nevada Wilderness’ web page at nevadawilderness.org/2024_black_rock_rendezvous. RSVPing to this event is not required but greatly appreciated.
